SharedSpace – Privacy Policy

SharedSpace ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the SharedSpace mobile and web application.

• Account information: name, email address, and password when you register.
• Household data: grocery lists, tasks, bills, renewals, subscriptions, calendar events, expenses, reminders, and meal plans you create within the app.
• Device information: device type, operating system, and app version for diagnostic purposes.
• Usage data: in-app activity such as features used and interactions, collected anonymously to improve the app.

Camera

SharedSpace requests access to your device's camera solely to allow you to capture and upload photos — for example, photos of grocery items, receipts for expense splitting, or household-related images shared within your workspace.

We want to be clear about how camera access is used:

• Camera access is only activated when you explicitly choose to take or upload a photo within the app.
• We do not access your camera in the background.
• We do not use the camera for facial recognition, tracking, or advertising purposes.
• Photos you capture are stored securely in your workspace and are only visible to members of your household.
• You can revoke camera permission at any time in your device's system settings. The app will continue to function without it.

• To provide and maintain the SharedSpace service.
• To sync your household data across devices in real time.
• To send you notifications about household activity (only if you enable them).
• To improve app performance and fix issues.
• To respond to your support requests.

Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase, which provides encrypted data transmission (TLS) and secure cloud storage. We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties.

We do not share your personal data with third parties except:

• Firebase / Google: for authentication, database, and storage services.
• Legal requirements: if required by law or to protect our rights.

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and all associated data at any time by contacting us at the email below. Upon deletion, your data is permanently removed from our servers within 30 days.

SharedSpace is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

• Access the personal data we hold about you.
• Request correction of inaccurate data.
• Request deletion of your account and data.
• Withdraw consent for optional permissions (e.g. camera, notifications) at any time via device settings.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any significant changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
